Trying to Get My Act Together

Geez, it's already June! I'm still trying to figure out how I spent April. The day job is getting a little hectic, hence the MIA, but tonight I put together a little plan in an attempt to balance work, family and writing.

We finally bit the bullet and joined the local country club. We're not really the "country club" type, but they were offering a great deal on the golf membership and we just couldn't pass it up. Everyone in the family owns golf clubs except for me and B3, so I hope we can get our money out of it. It is a bit fancy and I'll certainly have to get used to behaving myself. But hey, I am what I am and for the most part, what you see is what you get. The board had to vote to allow us to join, but they approved. The best thing about it all is that it is right behind our house, so the kids can walk to the pool while I'm at work.

Two weeks ago I asked my manager if I could be put on full-time employment. My numbers were good and the company has benefited from my work so I figured now was as good a time as any. I'm working full-time but with my kids in a school where I have to provide the transportation, I'm not in the office full-time. But, the way I see it, if I'm working full-time, I should be allowed the benefits other full-time employees get. My manager agreed (much to my surprise and delight) and now we're just waiting on signatures.

I did edit a few more pages of my novel that a publisher requested. It's slow going but I want the work to be thorough. It's tighter now and definitely has a better flow. Let's hope they like it.

Another publisher has had my YA Historical for almost a year now. I've contacted them and they're still very interested. I just wish they'd make a decision already.

I plan to finish at least anothe 100 pages of the novel and get it out to the publisher within the next few weeks. So I best get busy.

Wow!!! Congrats on everything - the full time job (sounds like you've been aceing it), and the publisher's interest! You are definitely on a roll!
